Harper Reaches New Low

Why did Stephen Harper cross the floor to shake Michael Ignatieff's hand after the Afghanistan vote? One reason, and one reason only. He wants to interfere in the in the Liberal Party's Leadership Convention, because he knows it is his biggest threat to keeping power.

Harper is trying to pin the Liberal membership against Michael Ignatieff, because he knows he is an electoral threat. Harper had the choice of shaking hands with over twenty Liberal caucus, and he chose to shake hands with one of the leadership contenders.

Harper believes that if he can turn Liberals against Ignatieff, it will create a leadership race that is full of division and discord. Well the master politician will most likely fail in this pursuit, as this race will most likely stay civil because of the need for subsequent ballot support. Again, Harper is focusing on the politics of division instead of cooperation.

If Liberals are so vindictive and paranoid that they will turf Ignatieff simply for shaking hands with the Prime Minister, they are in worse condition than I thought.

Did you ever put aside the cynicism and pessimism for a second and think that maybe it wasn't about politics? Maybe they simply chose to show that Canadian politicians are not so partisan that they can't respect eachother and agree when it comes to issues that are of grave importance to the country.

I wish I shared your optimism, but I think Mr. Harper's actions were politically motivated.

I do agree that the Liberal Party will see past the handshake when it comes to voting for a new leader.

I notice you don't have anything more to say since I served your ass with a dose of the truth. Maybe your cooking up a comeback, just like the liberals cooked the books for the gun registry.

Ignatief is a joke. A vote for him is a vote for terrorism. Wait till Harper takes a virtual war right into his livingroom with no Kurds in sight to save his ass.
He's gonna take to him like he took it to the GST, a slow and painful death, with no media coverage of his casket.

When I think about the truth I touch myself.
