Stephen Harper loves Canada. That's why he appointed Jim Flaherty Finance Minister, who made covering up budget deficits a pure art form as a Ontario Finance Minister. Oh that GST, one percent cut, we can all retire. Oh no, the retailers can suck that up dry. Increasing the lower income bracket's income tax over the next three years to pay for most of this crap proves Mr. Harper really cares about working families.
And now for the grand finale. Mr. Harper is going to team up with the a political party that is determined to break up this country to pass this smoke and mirrors garbage.

For someone living in Ottawa, you'd think you would know a bit more about budgets. First off, the retailers can't suck it dry because every bill you now get has the P.S.T. and the G.S.T. clearly shown. Also, the people who will be paying
.5% more income tax are negliable because most will get the $1000. exemption. This only affects less than 1% of the population of Canada so they didn't take that money to pay for any programs. When everything is said and done, the "working families" will be paying less tax than they are right now. That's not my calculation, that's the calculations of the experts.
And the Liberals NEVER did ANYTHING without support from the Bloc.

First anonymous: You go buy a new pair of jeans for 50 bucks.
With your new GST savings you save 50 cents. Do you really think the retailer will hesitate to increase the price by 50 cents thus having the consumer pay the same price as before but more of it goes into the retailer's pocket.
Most people do not pay that close attention to the changes in the prices of the things they buy. Certainly not close enough to notice a 1% increase in the before tax price.
If you really believe that you will see lower prices as a result of the GST cut then please contact me because I have a nice bridge in Brooklyn I am selling cheap.

I'm not rich, not poor, just right in there with the majority, and the gst cut works for me.
Too bad the Libs didn't think of it first, oh yah, they did! But they were promising to get rid of the all of it. I hope they make that their new platform promise, again. I will vote for them if they do. hehehe
